Tulum, Mexico with kids

You’re going to think I’m crazy.

When the kids were just barely three and five years old my husband and I decided to take advantage of our slow work schedules in January and escape to Mexico for the month. The plan was to also take my MIL, both as a nice vacation for her, and also as a built in babysitter so hubs and I could get away for some alone time.

We had been to Playa del Carmen twice before, once on our honeymoon – which was amazing – and then again a few years later when we were alarmed at how commercialized and crowded this erstwhile idyllic beach town had become. So we needed a new destination.

Hubs had heard about this mystical place called Tulum, just a another half hour or so south of PDC (so about 1 hour south of the Cancun airport) where a laid back lifestyle and pristine white sand beaches combined into the perfect January retreat. I just needed to find a three bedroom condo that would work for our family.
